I've been reading lately about betrayal trauma, and so much of what you've written here echoes what I've been learning through my reading (and living the situation that's prompted the reading). Although my situation does not involve revelations through DNA, it was both informative and comforting to read about your experience. (And also, as always, good writing! It was riveting because of how you told the story, not just because of what the story is about.) Some days I really miss how I felt when I was living without knowledge of something fundamental to my sense of reality, but ultimately I think I want to live in truth. I think.

Rita, I'm sorry you're going through something that has shaken up your sense of reality. I hope that over time, more good will come out of living in truth, although I know how hard it is, especially that first year, or two, or three even. It takes time to adjust to a new personal reality. Therapy helped me, although it also opened the floodgates of childhood trauma I had hidden for decades. I hope you have support and allow yourself the time to feel all the feelings as they come. I've found that writing helps immensely! I'm here if you ever want to talk. xoxo

Thank you, Tracey. I am for sure writing my way through this experience. (Like, right now, as I'm working on this week's exercise!) The other things are helping, too. I see the potential good that lies ahead of me, but I'm sure not happy about the road I've got to travel to get there.

It's a long, bumpy road, I know! Hopefully with some joyful rest stops along the way. xo

Hi

I’m not sure how I connected to your blog. But I’m always happy to be connected to a fellow NPE.

I believe that you and I have a lot in common… NPE, blogging, disability/rehabilitation, and probably more.

In my case, my gifted DNA test helped clarify what I had suspected for most of my life. And yes… Looking back with my DNA truth, explained many situations and scenarios that I didn’t understand before… ie.… Peoples behavior.

At the end of this, I will leave a link to my blog. You can search using “NPE” and you’ll see some musings about my story.

Also… I would invite you to our November blogging challenge. We all commit to writing a post every day for 30 days. But… What that really means is to do your best. If you can’t make it all 30 days, nobody kicks you off the roster. And it can help build your readership. If you want to know more details, just let me know. I’d be happy to share with you.

Looking forward to more communication… thank you for sharing your story.
